Pietro Dal Pra was born in Vicenza in 1971 and began exploring the mountains as a child with his family. He took his first steps on the rock with his father in the Dolomites, but it is close to home, in Lumignano that begins to take climbing seriously. Thanks to an all-absorbing passion and a certain predisposition he makes quick progress and still very young, begins to climb extremely difficult routes, probably the most challenging of the mid-eighties. With the desire to live and work in the mountains, at the age of 21 he becomes a mountain guide. Parallel to this profession, which takes up most of his time, Pietro continues to visit the mountains all year round and has left his mark on some of the most beautiful climbs in the Dolomites, be it alone or with friends, in summer and in winter, in first ascents or in the repetition of the most important routes. What most characterizes the activity of Pietro Dal Pra is his variety of climbing styles.
His passion for climbing in all its forms, has led him to visit all kinds of walls and crags, from climbs of just a few metres in which the objective is the attainment of the maximum difficulty in total safety, to large alpine walls. For Pietro the art of pure mountaineering is dictated by the simple desire to live the vertical world to the full without the aim of producing extraordinary mountaineering feats. What makes Pietro Dal Pra one of the most eclectic climbers in the world is his desire to constantly explore new vertical worlds and climbing styles.
