Bio

Petter is a Swedish runner and mountain athlete living in Chamonix. He discovered his passion for the mountains through rock climbing and have several achievements in the sport. To mention something, he have free climbed three major big-wall routes up El Capitan in Yosemite.
Running have always been part of Petter’s complementary training, but in 2015 he turned the page and dedicated his training to mountain running. He is doing most of his training on the trails surrounding Chamonix, but also travels to take part in races around the world. In 2016 he placed 6th in the CCC and two years later he won his first 100 km race, the Dolomiti Extreme Trail in Italy. The same year, 2018, he also finished his first 100-mile race, the UTMB, where he finished 11th. Now he is choosing the most competitive and beautiful races to get the best out of himself.
While having his main objectives in mountain running, he also enjoys rock climbing, alpinism and ski mountaineering. Mixing it up and blurring the lines between them is what challenges him the most.
When Petter is not in the mountains he spends time with his wife and twin boys. He is a firefighter at CERN (European Laboratory for Particle Physics).

Interview

1) Which is your favorite place for running?
The Alps. I love to run in these mountains! To start a long day down on the valley floor, run up through the forest, and continue up in the alpine terrain above. If I can scramble to some summit before heading down that’s my perfect day.
2) Which is your specialization?
I am most comfortable in 100 km races with as much vertical gain as possible.
3) Do you have a pre-race routine?
always shave and shower before a race.
4) When and why did you start running?
I started running races in the mountains in 2015 because it seemed like the best way to explore the mountains.
5) Which are your La Sportiva favorite shoes?
Bushido II
6) What's in the air?
Competing in the Ultra-Trail World Tour
