WOLFGANG HELL

Bio

Wolfgang Hell was born in Lagundo in the province of Bolzano in 1980. He made his debut in the European Alpine Skiing Cup in 1998 and in 2008 he took part in the first World Cup competition. He remained in the national Alpine Skiing team for 13 years, becoming a ski instructor in 1999. He retired from competitions in 2010, became a ski coach in the same year, and an international sport climbing instructor in 2013.

After retiring from competitions, Wolfgang manages to give vent to his creativity in steep skiing thanks to his great experience on skis. Examples are the activities in the Brenta Dolomites (ascent and descent from the north-west of Tosa 2015 and from the south face of Brenta Alta 2016) and on the Eiger (west face 2016). In 2016 he lived a profound experience in Georgia, where he made 11 first ascents with descents of slopes up to 60 ° and with lengths from 600 to 1000 meters.
Climbing has always been an activity practiced by Wolfgang, which has given him strong emotions since 2012, also earning him the title of Alpine Guide in 2015.
Some examples are the winter ascent of the "Cold Fusion" route on Sassolungo in 2012 (7 -, Wi 5+, M8, 950m), the on sight route of the extremely difficult mixed trad route “Senza Piombo” in Val Lunga in 2013 (M 10, Wi 5+, 220m) and the Aufpassn routes! Style Simhild (7c / A0, 450m on the Catinaccio) and Clarissima (55 ° and 3, WI 6, 870m, North of Zebru).
2017 is a very difficult year for Wolfgang due to a serious injury to his left hand, to which he will dedicate almost two years of intense physiotherapy and training to recover 100%. In these years she also manages to focus on showing her daughters (3-5 years) the opportunities that the natural environment allows. 2019 is the year under the banner of "Train Hard", in order to return to the level of pre-injury climbing.
