In 2013 La Sportiva has joined in partnership with the European Outdoor Conservation Association, the non-profit association that supports charitable initiatives aimed at preserving the environment. EOCA is becoming increasingly present in Europe through various pro-environment projects supported by a collection of funds made possible by the partners of the Outdoor industry. 109 are now realities that are part of the association and a jury appointed by EOCA, who assess the projects most worth of being supported. These projects range from the cleaning of specific mountain areas (such as Kyrgyzstan), the protection of brown bears in Spain, the greening of forests (Czech Republic), the creation of cross-border hiking trails (Macedonia/Albania), to the rescue of forests from deforestation (Sweden).
The "vision" of the group of companies that form part of the EOCA - which since 2013 now also includes La Sportiva - is one that sees the Outdoor brand industry leaders engaged in a tangible way in preserving nature, wilderness areas and the entire ecosystem for future generations. These values are in line with La Sportiva’s corporate philosophy, as demonstrated by the ISO 14001 environmental certification in 2003. This was awarded at production site at Ziano di Fiemme (Trento) as a result of the water-based adhesives used for the production of shoes, the extensive use of solar panels, and membership of the bluesign certification system of the production chain.
