At La Sportiva, we are outdoor enthusiasts and as such, we work hard every day to define our products down to the smallest detail, test their performances and look constantly for innovative solutions. Our Headquarters are in the mountains and we take to heart the improvement of eco-sustainable choices both in our daily work and in the product development and production processes. We developed the RECYCLED logo system to communicate to customers the responsible choices we made during the product development phases, and that they can make by purchasing our products. The logo can be found throughout our apparel collection identifying items created with RECYCLED FABRIC, RECYCLEDINSULATION or RECYCLED FABRIC & INSULATION.
RECYCLED FABRIC We use recycled polyester and polyamide fibres. Recycled polyester fibers come from postconsumer PET bottles and recycled polyamide fibers are made with industrial waste. • The garments carrying this logo contribute to protecting the natural resources and to reduce the environmental impact • PFC free finishing • Optimally and durable quality
In its 2016 Risk Report, the World Economic Forum classified global warming as the biggest existential risk to humanity with the highest likelihood of occurring.
The use of Sympatex® fabrics and membranes, can significantly reduce the carbon footprint of products caused by the manufacturing processes. In specific terms, this means: the production of a Sympatex® co-polymer, compared to others, generates 50 times less CO2* (Calculation based on Sustainable Apparel Coalition data per 1kg).To constantly reduce its contribution to global warming, Sympatex® has also been compensating since 2017 for the CO2 quantity that is released during the annual membrane production by supporting internationally certified climate protection projects.
La Sportiva agreed to actively support this cause contributing, with each Evo Shell™ garment produced, to the project “1004 · Forest protection Kasigau Wildlife Corridor” in Kenya. This forest is a section of dry forest and savanna in the Kasigau Wildlife Corridor and is home to endangered species such as lions, zebras, and parrots as well as countless species of birds. Every day during their seasonal migration, 2000 African elephants cross the area. However, this forest is facing massive deforestation and slash-and-burn practices.
