La Sportiva Climb World Tour 2023 goes on!

14th April 2023, Ziano di Fiemme - The kick-off of the first La Sportiva Climb World Tour was a great success. Four continents, internationally renowned athletes – among them Adam Ondra, Stefano Ghisolfi, Jakob Schubert, Barbara Zangerl Siebe Venhee and Carlonie Ciavaldini – enthusiasts of all levels, product trials, workshops, shared moments but also training, music and partying: Friday 14th April marked the first date in a series of events that will tour fifteen climbing gyms around the globe, including Melbourne, Seoul, Paris and Vancouver. As usual, there was an exciting atmosphere characterised by enthusiasm, a shared love for climbing and a desire to participate. Following last year's Climb Europe experience and in keeping with tradition, the company from Ziano di Fiemme raises the bar yet again: four continents, 100 vertical destinations and 15 events dedicated to the climbing community worldwide. In three words: Climb World Tour. From Milan, via Tokyo and Salt Lake City, the new format aims to connect climbers from all over the planet and raise awareness of the technical characteristics and technologies offered by the well-known Trentino brand's climbing shoes.

"For La Sportiva, the Climb World Tour represents the biggest event ever in its ninety-five-year history. The 14th April saw the kick-off of the initiative, with the participation of 14 cities, located across four continents. It is, to all intents and purposes, a format that aims to bring together the climbing community from all over the world," said Francesco Delladio, fourth-generation La Sportiva member and Climbing Product Manager, on the day the tour began. He was at the Rockspot gym in Milan, where he was also joined by Stefano Ghisolfi, Marcello Bombardi and Wafaa Amer, who shared personal anecdotes, techniques and advice on how best to progress on the vertical journey. In the Meneghina capital, brought to life by Climbing Radio and the enthusiasm of the Brocchi sui Blocchi, anyone who had registered free of charge beforehand could get to know the secrets and characteristics of D-Tech, No-Edge and P3, some of the proprietary technologies that have shaped the history of La Sportiva's most iconic products, and test the most iconic shoes that have placed the brand at the top of the list among climbing enthusiasts over the years. "Often people get caught up in climbing and don't stop to think about how the climbing shoe works, while it is an important aspect for the objectives everyone sets themselves and the goals they want to achieve, even if climbing is just a hobby. We all have different feet and sensitivity so it is interesting to learn about how the shoes work and then find the Cinderella shoe that works best for you," said climber Wafaa Amer.

There was a large turnout during the kick-off in the other gyms around the world as well, where thousands of enthusiasts showed great interest in learning more about the technologies behind the products during dozens of workshops that had experimentation as a common thread: heightening the sensitivity and perception of your own foot on the wall, learning to recognise the different sensations, for example on which boulders more rigidity is required or when it is better to be more precise. Adam Ondra was also among the top climbers who attended the first date in Brno, Czech Republic, sharing his climbing tips and techniques during some very interesting, highly technical and training-oriented workshops with a number of competitive teams of young locals. "I think the Climb World Tour is a really good event, since it provides a meeting point for climbers of all levels from all over the world. The atmosphere is relaxed, geared towards collaboration. Even during the workshop I gave, it was as if I wasn't the one who was teaching people something but we were learning from each other, like during a climbing session among friends," concluded Stefano Ghisolfi. All in all, from Sydney all the way to Toronto, the kick-off of the World Climb Tour was a thoroughly positive, well-attended event that received a great deal of support from people who love a vertical challenge. In the meantime, the Tour continues, visiting 23 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Pacific, with over 100 events open to the public until it finishes in November. Every event offers the same test & feel philosophy: try on the shoes and learn how to feel your own foot, while acquiring sensitivity and experience in the field.

Technology Focus |P3| No-Edge| D-Tech

P3 system was created in 2007. It is a tension system patented by La Sportiva, and guarantees that climbing shoes maintain their curved shape throughout their life. Even with heavy use and after resoling, the liner will retain its shape and performance. Currently, P3 is used in almost all of the more performance-oriented models, except for a few products that are dedicated to very specific purposes where La Sportiva preferred not to include the technology. No-Edge, as the word itself implies, is a sole design concept that guarantees the absence of sharp edges on the toe of the shoe, so you no longer have a shoe with a traditional edged sole but a profile that follows the shape of your foot in a highly ergonomic manner, guaranteeing maximum fluidity and naturalness of movement when climbing, and a great deal of adaptability and sensitivity, considering the reduced thicknesses between foot and rock. No-Edge is a technology that is not geared towards extreme performance, but rather ensures great intuitiveness of movement, allowing for faster climbing that is slightly less precise, and thus adapts better to any roughness of the rock. D-Tech, or Dynamic Technology, is the latest technology in La Sportiva's climbing category, and consists of a sole that extends up the sides of the shoe, guaranteeing a great deal of reactivity even in highly unstructured shoes that are geared towards maximum sensitivity, especially when climbing indoors.
