Milano Climbing Expo 2019: the international climbing festival back to Urban Wall

From 25th to 26th of January, Urban Wall opens its doors to the best male and female climbers in the world, junior athletes and vertical enthusiasts for an exclusive weekend full of races, workshops and activities.

Always on Friday, the journalist and passionate climber Valentina Graziosi will host the “talk&video” show, talking about limits, the line between possible and impossible reporting stories of extraordinarily adventurers.

On Saturday we will have great reconfirmations but also important names regarding the participation of the top athletes in the final competitions. Alongside the super guests of last year as Kilian Fischhuber, Gabriele Moroni, Laura Rogora, Stefano Ghisolfi, Mina Markovic, Maja Vidmar, Katharina Saurwein, Stefano Carnati and Jorg Verhoeven, we will see facing Urban Wall’s routes other top athletes including Jacob Shubert, Jessica Pilz, Katja Kadić, Stasa Gejo, Anak Verhoeven, Mathilde Becerra, and Marcello Bombardi.

For the 2019 edition the offer of the workshops, entirely managed by athletes and Alpine Guides, has been enriched: fans can choose to climb in the Lead and Boulder disciplines with the strongest climbers in the world, to analyse some Training Methodologies with our Instructor Andrea Giani, or work with the physiotherapist-climber Silvio Reffo in the Physio-training workshop.

To the bravest, Jacopo Larcher and Barbara Zangerl, Jorg Verhoeven and Katharina Saurwein, Luca Moroni and Federica Mingolla will taste the Big Wall, the Trad experience and the Dry Tooling, and will improve aspects related to the climbing security with the Alpine guide Alberto Marazzi.
Moreover, an exceptional appointment with the mountain guide Michele Maggioni and Pietro DalPra who will bring the Paraclimbing to the Urban Wall Gym: "... what I would like people to understand - explains Maggioni - is that disability is purely a cultural / mental construction, as to believe that a mountain, a rope or a slope are impossible to climb or ski". Katharina will support them with her new role as coach in the Austrian paraclimbing team.

To allow all climbing lovers to experience the emotions of the races, Urban Wall will predispose, as last year, a live streaming on Facebook

For this second edition that will take place on the 25th and 26th of January 2019, the format will be renewed and even richer: MCE19’s doors will open Friday afternoon the 25th at 4 pm to host the young Kundalini Agonistic team in a demonstrative training session with the Urban Wall’s instructors assisted by the instructors of the Olympic Team of the People's Republic of China; then the Qualifying session by-invitation follows to win a place for the Saturday competitions. More than 26 Italian National athletes and outsiders from the Olympic Team of the People's Republic of China will compete in the Lead and Boulder qualifications "designed" by the Urban Wall route setters.
