Reel Rock Tour 2019: the best of climbing on the big screen

Sponsored by La Sportiva in Italy, France and Australia, the REEL ROCK Film Tour is ready to bring premieres of the best new climbing films to communities around the world, with 500 locations in 40 countries - and counting.

La Sportiva renews the partnership with  Reel Rock tour, renowned climbing film festival born in the USA and now present in more than 40 Countries, presenting it in three Countries as sponsor. For the second time in Italy, the tour will start on November 25 and finish on December 5 hosting 14 stages, in France almost 30 dates are already scheduled between January 9 and February 4, and 48 events in Australia, scheduled between November 5 and December 7.

Each evening will see the screening of a series of exciting and engaging short and medium-length films, where the great wilderness and unspoilt nature is the protagonist along with the exploits of the greatest climbers on the scene today. Reel Rock's evenings are something very different from a classic and quiet film evening: all over the world, the brand is in fact synonymous with pure energy and every event is an eagerly awaited opportunity for the different communities of climbers, often including athletes, directors and photographers.

Among the films on the programme, "The High Road” sees as protagonist the emerging champion Nina Williams who faces with an exploit that admits no mistakes, climbing with no rope problems that are 30,40 or 50 feet tall, and "United States of Joe's", a film set in Utah that highlights the importance of climbing as a way to overcome the barriers of diversity.

Finally, the long-awaited "The Nose Speed Record" will allow us to discover a new aspect of speed climbing, different from the one practiced in the gym on the traditional 15 meters wall. Protagonists of this short movie will be the legends of Yosemite Valley, Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold, taking up a challenge against time and gravity in the attempt to achieve the coveted speed record on the 3,000-foot route of The Nose, on El Capitan. Only a perfect climbing team will be able to cope with the time and break the two-hour barrier: will they be able to do so?
