La Sportiva Mountain Running Session with Anton Krupicka at Kendal Mounatin Festival
Get the chance to meet the living legend of ultra running Anton Krupicka. During the Kendal weekend, two running session for testing the new La Sportiva products together with the champion!
Anton Krupicka is worldwide known as one of the most iconic American ultra-runner. He ran his first marathon when he was 12. During college and in his early 20s he often ran upwards of 200 miles a week. He has won the Leadville 100 twice, the Miwok 100K, the Rocky Raccoon 100 Miler, the Collegiate Peaks 50 Miler, the White River 50 Miler twice, the High Mountain 50k and the Estes Park Marathon. He also came in second in the Western States Endurance Run in 2010, and won the Lavaredo Ultra trail 2014.
But don’t think Anton is all about running. Due to a string of injuries, this Boulder-based La Sportiva ambassador hasn’t raced the past few years, and he currently runs just one or two days a week. That doesn’t mean he’s disappeared from the ultra-running scene though, and he says he gets the same flow from climbing and skiing and cycling as he does from running.
Representing the La Sportiva’s brand vision of living the mountain at 360°, Krupicka sees himself as someone who loves to move in the mountains in every way possible, in his own daily routine as well as for his sports’ goals: Just thinking about last year, when he travelled to Patagonia with National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Colin Haley to climb peaks in the Fitzroy Massif, or his record time of 9 hours and 6 minutes on the Longs Peak Triathlon in Colorado.
So many shades of enjoying the mountain enclosed in only one person, and explained in a movie released by La Sportiva this spring, “Purpose”.
During the Kendal Mountain Festival, Anton will be present on Saturday 18th promoting the movie and his story, before the first running session (book it here)
If you cannot catch a ticket, on Sunday the 19th, the Climbers Shop (Ambleside) will be welcoming the second running session. As part of this event, runners will also receive a very generous goody bag, with a variety of trail running goodies from La Sportiva and Ultimate Direction. There will also be the opportunity to try out trail shoes from La Sportiva, and packs from Ultimate Direction. (book it here)
