Great success for the 10th edition of L'Olla de Nuria, the iconic race & vertical in the Catalan Valley for the first time supported by La Sportiva
More than 700 runners took part last weekend at the 10th edition of L’Olla de Nuria, for the first time supported by La Sportiva, running the 21,5km route with 2.700 metres+ in the famous Catalan valley.
The weekend began on Saturday morning with the 2nd edition of the Vertical Olla, where the only-up specialists faced 1.580m of positive difference in only 6km. At the starting line, the best athletes in the vertical world, as Salomon athlete Laura Orgué and Pere Rullan, of Team La Sportiva who showed that the injury that kept him out of Zegama two weeks ago, is now history.
The first to arrive on the top of Torreneules Gran, was Pere Rullán with a time of 1.09.08, improving his previous time in the race. The Joan Freixa followed with a time of 1:13: 10, 32 seconds ahead of 3rd classified Agustí Roc. In the women race, Laura Orgué grabs the gold with a time of 1:21: 46 ahead Fatima de Diego - 01.33.42 and Alba Segura - 1.38.08
The day continued in the afternoon with the conference “L’Olla de Càpsules”, a concentrate of technical talks with Miquel Ylla, the renowned cardiologist who highlighted the consequences that have excess sports on the heart. To talk about the importance of physical training was the winner of the day Pere Rullán. Andreu Calvó followed him for giving the strokes necessary to interpret a map and don’t get lost in the mountains. The auditorium of the Hotel Vall de Nuria was full of spectators ready to enjoy the short video of the 2nd Vertical Pot and the race briefing with the final pasta Party dinner, which was amanetzat to traditional Catalan music.
The day after, the Nuria atmosphere began at 6:40 with the arrival of the first rack runners at the departure area, where txalaparta welcoming runners before the briefing of directors Pep Bisquert and Jordi Godayol. Minutes later, the 10th edition of L’Olla de Nuria, officially started under the eyes of hundreds of runners and spectators.
The first junior athlete of LaSportiva Joan Casas arrived minutes after 1.26:55 of race. Marc Vizcaino followed three minutes behind while Arnau Aranda completed the podium with a time of 1:30: 32. For the main category, in the male race the Salomon athlete Jan Margarit won with a time of 2:18:13, followed by Antonio Alcaide with a time of 2:23: 40 and Oriol Cardona 2.25.18
In the female race Laura Orgué grabs the second consecutive victory at Olla de Nuria completeing the race with a time of 2.52 and became the winner of the reolla with her victory Vertical Pot and Pan. The second classified, Clàudia Sabata reached the finish line 11 minutes later. Completing the podium, Tina Bes in 1.25: 05.
