TX Guide is the most technical shoe in the La Sportiva TX Series. It is dedicated to technical approach routes and climbing and is designed for mountain guides and climbers looking for a long lasting, high performance product. Versatile, lightweight and protective, it is ideal for walk-run & climb approach routes as suggested by the aesthetics derived from a perfect combination of running/approach and the technical solutions inspired by the climbing world (sole, rand and lacing). The shoe has a dry and snug fit for maximum performance. It is very stable at the toe and allows to keep the edge in climbing. The highly abrasion resistant uppers are made from a single layer for optimization of internal volumes, with protective internal reinforcements in microfiber and external TPU reinforcements to guarantee abrasion resistance. The lacing is asymmetrical and approach-style up to the toe for maximum fit accuracy while the back part of the boot recalls the Mythos Style and allows for a perfect support at the heel. The protective Climbing-inspired rand uses PU-Tech Lite™. The construction of the tongue derives from the solutions applied to running shoes: the cuff prevents the entry of external elements during walking. The sole/midsole package uses shock absorbing, dual compressed EVA on the heel and a stabilizer on the forefoot: the front part of the midsole is co-printed with a TPU layer that acts as a climbing zone stabilizer, medial shank and rock-guard layer on the forefoot. The Vibram® MegaGrip and Idrogrip dual compound sole is the perfect combination of grip and durability while the pronounced heel facilitates downhill braking and provides greater uphill grip.

While both pairs of shoes are exceptionally well made in terms of quality, I’m afraid the sizing and width seem rather far from true to size. Although I do not have particularly wide feet, I found both pairs noticeably too narrow. I have tried to break them in and give them a fair chance, but unfortunately to no avail. It is rather disappointing, particularly given the otherwise excellent quality of the shoes.

I like these shoes, so i just purchased the 3rd pair. Pity there was no upgrade (at least design) since last year, that is why one star less, but may be it is also ok :-)

On a general level I am a big fan of La Sportiva and uses a wide range of their footwear:
- TX4
- Boulder X
- Ultra Raptor gtx
- Mythos
When I first read about the new TX Guide I was thrilled as I imagined it to be som kind of merge between Boulder X and Ultra Raptor.
Having used the TX Guide, I must admit I am a little disappointed:
- It doesn't provide nearly the same stability and protection as Boulder X and Ultra Raptor - it is a light weight shoe that doesn't give any confidence in rocky terrain
- The fit is extremly narrow on the forefoot and doesn't live up the the comfort promise I have had from using other La Sportiva footwear.
That said, the visual design is very nice and modern.
Conclusion: do not by the shoe for use in the mountains, but you can get a lot of street credit wearing it in urban "terrain".

Excelente calzado PERO OJO algo estrecho, yo cogí 1/2 numero más y a la altura de los dedos se nota algo de presión. Con un calcetín de invierno gordo no podría ir con ellas.

Scarpa molto valida in avvicinamento buona tenuta in tutte le condizioni soprattutto in discesa, non comodissima per via della forma affusolata della pianta del piede che ricorda vagamente una scarpa da arrampicata.. ma dovrei usarla ancora un po’ per addomesticarla ed ammorbidirla! Ho arrampicato serenamente un 4c e un 5a, fantastica la sensazione di grip nella climbing zone .. peccato la caviglia un po’ larga e meno fasciante ma conto di usarla ancora tanto per rivedere la mia opinione! Leggera, traspirante e protettiva. Grip assicurato ;)
