Maite Maiora: the Spanish La Sportiva athlete now is Skyrunning world champion


After the bronze medal won at Vertical Champ on Friday at Aigüestortes (ESP), the Spanish athlete from La Sportiva team Maite Maiora, finally has reachedthe World title she deserves even in the skymarathon distance.

After securing the bronze medal at Vertical Champ on Friday, Spaniard Maite Maiora finally has reached the World title she deserves even in the skymarathon distance. The BUFF® EPIC TRAIL 42KMis a point to point with 3,200m positive vertical climb in the Spanish Pyrenees. It’s a highly challenging extremely technical race with a nine-hour time limit capped at 500.

After a career just short of the podium, a fourth place in the 2014 World Championships and injury,Maite Maiora from La Sportiva Team, has finally nailed it. She also raced the Vertical on Friday placing an excellent third place just behind the French Christel Dewalle and Laura Orguè. Thanks to the results of both races, Angermund and Maiora claim the Combined World Championship titles.

I realise I’ve won but it hasn’t sunk in yet,” Maiora commented. “Everyone knows what I went through with a shoulder and leg injury last winter, but I knew the suffering in the race wouldn’t be as hard as that. I dedicate this victory to all those who were close to me".
