Luca Zardini also known as “Canon” (Cortina d'Ampezzo, Aug. 4th, 1972) is an Italian climber. He enjoys both difficulty competitions and crag climbing. He is the Italian climber to have won the highest number of Italian championship titles in lead climbing and he has participated in the Lead World Cup for seventeen years, gaining second place overall in 1992.
In 1991 he joined the Italian national sport climbing team, participating in seven World Championships and seven European Championships. Zardini has also competed in the World Cup, the Italian Championships and Rock Master. From 1992 to 2007 Luca was a member of the Alpine Training Centre for the Italian police force. In 1993 he joined the prestigious Scoiattoli mountaineering club in Cortina d’Ampezzo. In 1997 he became F.A.S.I National route setter, in 2001 a F.A.S.I. National coach and in 2007 a F.A.S.I. National instructor for outstanding sporting merit.

1) Who is your favorite climbing partner and why?
I had many climbing partner and it's difficult to choose just one, but I remember with gratitude and delight Michele Ossi e Paolo Specchier.
2) Which is the first La Sportiva shoes/boot you used?
My first climbing shoes was “Mega”  by Stefan Glowacz and then “Kendo”.
3) What is your favorite climbing/mountaineering book?
“Topo di falesia” by Jerry Moffat
4) What is the mountain you would like to see at least one time in your life?
I don't have a specific mountain. I live in Cortina d'Ampezzo surrounded by a wonderful environment and mountains.
5) Do you support cultural o charity projects?
I joined the organization of "Cortina in Croda", a cultural event about mountains and I was vice-presidend for 4 years of the "Gruppo Scoiattoli" in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
6) What's in the air?
Setting up a new crag in Laggio di Cadore (Italy) where I have been working from 4 years. I think it might be the most difficult project in my career, but I am pretty sure that it is the nicest cliff I have ever worked on. Then, there are in my agenda some travels for climbing and visiting new places.
