La Sportiva meets Patxi Usobiaga for the second episode of the “Strange Heroes” series

The La Sportiva “Strange Heroes” miniseries goes ahead and after meeting with Jacopo Larcher, reveals the monster within the climbing legend Patxi Usobiaga.

The company from Ziano di Fiemme goes ahead with its new web series that aims to find out what really drives a climber to constantly push beyond limits.  
The series, created in collaboration with the Sfelab creative studios, is a combination of computer graphics and comic strips and draws inspiration from the LaSpokids series.  La Sportiva drives straight to the heart of the climber to discover the monster within, which personifies the motivation that encourages climbers to constantly improve their performance, the driving force that allows them to reach beyond limits.

In the first episode we saw La Sportiva’s polyvalent athlete Jacopo Larcher, come face to face with his own “demon”… a monstrous octopus that attempts to hold him back as he climbs. Now, for its second chapter we flight to Catalonia meeting with the climbing legend Patxi Usobiaga, that faces this challenge while training in his own gym, the ideal place to overcome particular personal challenges both in climbing and in life.  

A fun web series, with a very serious message, strong visuals and careful attention paid to every detail, as in the previous web series created by the Sfelab studios: “How No-Edge Changed My Life”. The protagonist: Patxi Usobiaga

Born in Elbar in 1980, Patxi approach towards climbing has evolved year after year since he started climbing at age 10. At the beginning it was only a hobby but nowadays climbing is what mostly drives him, what makes him happy and feel alive. Patxi find motivation in every aspect and every discipline. Competitions pushed him to train harder and to give his best. In 2011, Patxi stops climbing completely due to a herniated disc as the result of a car accident, but he never stops putting all of his energy into training reaching good results so far thanks to a large dose of self-learning and innovation of training methods, discipline and a lot of effort. But rock climbing continues to be his true passion—nature, friends, travels… After almost 20 years climbing, and after 6 year from his accident, Patxi Usobiaga is now back again in the climbing Olympus redpointing his third 9a+, Papichulo at Oliana.
