Bio

Akiyo Noguchi (Ibaraki, May 30th, 1989) is a Japanese climber. She enjoys difficulty and bouldering competitions, crag climbing and bouldering. She started climbing at the age of twelve, focusing on difficulty and boulder specialties, the latter in which she excels.
Since 2007 she has been taking part in the World Cup bouldering. In her first competition year she competed in four races out of seven, gaining three podium finishes (two second places and one third place) and finishing sixth overall in the final rankings.
In 2008 she won her first stage in Montauban and finished in second place overall behind Anna Stöhr. In 2009 with three victories, a second and a third place in five races, she won her first Cup, ahead of rival Stöhr. In 2010 she won her second Cup. These results earned her the La Sportiva Competition Award in 2010, for her motivation and for the positive spirit with which she climbs.
