Sciacchetrail: the fifth edition ready to start on April the 6th

After four years of undeniable success, the trail of the Cinque Terre goes on with a fifth edition full of passion and a slightly renewed track.

As the 5th edition of Sciacchetrail is going to take place this weekend, the simple but strong idea of showing the rural identity of the Cinque Terre through the physical and emotional involvement that comes from sport, has proved to be a winner, crossing borders and attracting more and more athletes from Worldwide.

La Sportiva, partner of the event since its first edition, shares all the values spread by the race as the strong connection with the territory, the respect for the environment and of course, the passion for trail running.

Saturday 6th April 2019, 300 runners will start from Monterosso facing a 45.8 km track with 2.339 m of height gain that this year welcomes some variations that will add verticality and new glimpse of the villages. Like the ascent of the Donega, above Manarola that at 35th km will definitely decide the fate of the classification. On this occasion elite runners as Amanda Basham, Zac Marion, Connie Gardner, Stephanie Manivoz, Francesca Pretto, Christian and Celia Sant will enjoy the beauty of running through the Cinque Terre.

Countryside, sanctuaries, vineyards, woods, thousands of steps, views of the sea and endless walls of stone are, together with the warmth of the local community, the essence of Sciacchetrail that aims to put together the ancient art of winemakers and farmers with the passion of all the runners who visit the Cinque Terre to practice their sport. «this race is possible thanks to generations of winemakers who have built thousands of walls and paths creating extraordinary wines, such as the Sciacchetrà, and which, even today, are decisive in maintaining the quality of the landscape and the productions. » says the organization.

The bibs sold in 12 days represent 17 nationalities: numbers that show how Sciacchetrail is perceived abroad. «A destination race, a travel motivation and an attractive element for long stays in the Cinque Terre. »
