ISMF world Cup: all the La Sportiva athletes results at the Erzincan stage

in the third stage of this 2017 ISMF World Cup, IItaly and France brought on the podium the La sportiva flag thanks to Boscacci, Maguet, Bon Mardion and Sevennec, and an extraordinary Axelle Mollaret!

When the emotions come from afar, they are even more precious. So it goes in Turkey in the mountains over Erzincan, some 700 kilometres east from Ankara. The Munzuri national park has been the perfect stage for the Individual race. The third in the 2017 ISMF world Cup calendar, the first outside the borders of the “old continent”, on a different snow from what the athletes are used tot.

With 37 athletes on the run, and eight nations represented – including China and Iran - , the bunch of competitors had to face a technical track that challenged the Loc - local organizer Commette all the week long. The snow was moved a lot by the never stopping wind. For this reason it was difficult to create the perfect conditions to set the race 100% off piste. Nevertheless the “Indi” track, with 1700 D+ was all a matter of seven challenging ascents and descents, having the key parts mostly in the two central ascents: By that time Italy had already set the pace and was going for the leadership with what turned out to be a duel between Matteo Eydallin, who prevailed, and Michele Boscacci who lost the victory at the fotofinish, in a breathtaking final sprint. “Eydallin and I fought together till the end – explains the La Sportiva ambassador - : he overcame me in the very last bend and the arrival was very emotional”, adds Boscacci who managed to keep William Bon Mardion, from France, in third position. That was a kind of derby Italy – France which was worth for Bon Mardion another big result in the season after Cambre D’Aze.

Sunshine and clear sky framed another derby in the ladies race: Laetitia Roux seemed to like very much this high plateau style environment with few trees and a lot of open terrain to cover. She started early with her typical “solo” run and got to the finish well in advance on team mate Axelle Mollaret who is again second like in Andorra and Cambre D’Aze.First podium of the season in an Individual for Claudia Galicia Cotrina, Spain.

The Sprint race, the second of the 2017 ISMF world Cup season, involved again eight nations. The good conditions payed off the local organizers’ hard work in cooperation with ISMF technicians, who put down an interesting run which was faster than ever, jumping directly to the hottest section of the heats.

The men race saw the leadership of the Italian team in both semifinals up to the very last run, when an historical “triplete” conquered the podium: Robert Antonioli over Michele Boscacci and Nadir Maguet finished up in a very emotional embrace after fighting all way long. In the ladies race “queen” Laetitia Roux ruled over two princesses from Spain, Claudia Galicia Cotrina and Marta Garcia Farres.

For most of the athletes the next target will be the world Championships in Italy, kicking off in less than two weeks, from 23rd February in Alpago and Piancavallo area. The world Cup itself will be back, from the end of march, with two more stages between Italy and Spain.
