La Sportiva in Chile: the distribution agreement has been officially formalized


The brand from Ziano di Fiemme strengthens its presence on the Chilean market thanks to the agreement with partner La Cumbre.

Ziano di Fiemme – La Sportiva, the world’s leading footwear and outdoor clothing manufacturer, continues its growth on the foreign market focusing now on developing markets.  This is the case in Chile, a country with a strong outdoor vocation that has been characterized in recent times by an acceleration in domestic consumption, alongside the growth of active tourism, favoured by its amazing landscapes: there are many mountains that surpass 6000 metres, the ideal location for mountaineers and hikers.

Already present in the Chilean territory with its products since the year 2000, the company from Ziano di Fiemme, whose export share accounts for 80% of the company turnover, now officially announces the exclusive distribution agreement with their partner "La Cumbre” owned by Katja Broersen and Ivo Schrijnemaekers. Established in 1999 in Las Conder, Chile's high-end district of Santiago, La Cumbre has its origins in the passion for mountaineering expeditions over 6000 meters,  of the Dutch-born couple Katia and Ivo , who settled in Chile in the late 1990s after a Long journey through the Andes in search of climbing walls and high altitude adventures. The intuition of the two young mountaineers led them to open an outdoor equipment shop in the heart of the Chilean capital and start serving the nascent outdoor market made up mainly of climbers and hikers from Europe, Asia and North America: the goal was to import the best brands on the market and promote them through their own first-hand experience as climbers and demanding users. Hence the first contacts with La Sportiva, a brand that has always been present in the Cumbre store since the very beginning.

“Katia and Ivo’s passion for the mountains is the same as that of our company," says Enrico Carniel, Sales Manager for La Sportiva, who led the negotiation, they also share our same strong technical expertise, the number one factor of the success in La Cumbre's growth: a hyper-specialty outpost in mountain sports, which has created a solid network of contacts across Chile, an increasingly important market for La Sportiva products and with strong growth potential in the coming years. “This is demonstrated by the highly sought-after investment wanted by the Dutch couple in opening up the first "Academia de Montana La Cumbre", an academy that arranges clinics on mountain safety, educationals, climbing and ski mountaineering courses and high-altitude expeditions, thanks to the agreement with the national mountain guides of Venezuela, Chile and Argentina, which are part of the UIAGM international alpine guides.
