The international Bouldering series goes on. The fifth event of the year
is hosted in France, in Grenoble. Like last year the competition venue is
located in the Mistral Park, in a wonderful landscape, with the background
of the Vercors limestone walls. Strange the competition formula, with the
women's qualification on Friday 1 September. The afternoon of
the following day is reserved to the men's qualifications and then in the
evening the women's finals. The particular choice to make the finals in
different days was made to get more spectators to the show and also to
give the present media double possibilities to follow. Women's final
without surprises, with Liv Sansoz practically with no competitors for her
run to victory. The French champion takes advantage, in the best way, of
the absence of the rivals Choumilova and Bodet. Surprise for the second
place of Tanja Bauerand, third place for the young French Sandrine Levet,
who in this way comes nearer to the win of the overall title. Sunday
afternoon it's time for the men's final, with a large number of spectators,
about 5000 people. Like always, a great bagarre in the men's field. At the
end wins Pedro Pons again, who in this way conquers also the overall title
before the end of the series. French competitors behind, with "Dedè"
Dulac second and Jerome Mejer third.
End of the series on Saturday 16 September in Rovereto, for the final
competition of the 2000 tour.
