 After
two events of the brand new World Cup series, dedicated to "endurance",
in Pitztal and in Courchevel, where the wall reached 25-30 meters of
height, here arrives the time of pure power, Bouldering on ice. Near the
Faloria Hut there are huge ice boulders, on which the athletes compare
themselves on the moves created by the routes setters Manu Ibarra and
Paolo Mantovani. This time nothing "anomalous" happens to the
ice climbing wall and the event takes place without problems. Very
exciting and aggressive the competition, both in the men's and the women's
field. Eventually great success of the Canadian school, with Will Gadd and
Kim Csizmazia on the highest step of the podium. Behind the Canadian
champion the French Dulac and Lombard, while in the women's field the
great surprise comes from the local Nadia Dimai, for the first time taking
part to an ice climbing competition and until the last ice axe stroke
fighting for victory. Third place for the good Hungarian Ildi Kiss.
Excellent, as always, the organization of the alpine guides, helped by the
Scoiattoli di Cortina and definitely gripping the show and the competition
formula.
