Wiener Neustadt,17-18 April 1999

The Difficulty World Cup begins this year in Wiener Neustadt, in Austria. Some changes at the top of the ranking, with the brothers Bindhammer for
the first time on the highest steps of the Podium. Third Brenna, always more continuous, another time extremely determined at the beginning of the World Cup. Not very good the results of other protagonists, like Arnaud Petit, Legrand, Wandeler.

Unlucky during the final the Italian Luca Zardini, compromised by a technical mistake while clipping. A real pity, because the  climber from Cortina had demonstrated a top form, dominating
literally the qualifications. 22° place for Luisa Iovane. Very small
national team, with only three athlets (two men and one woman) taking part to the competition. This as a consequence of a political crisis inside the

FASI, the Italian Climbing Federation, crisis that has brought the resignation of the sporting Director Marco Scolaris, and to a temporary
reduction of the entire "competitions" project, as long as things will not be cleared, for a new correct start.
