10ª edition of the prestigious event in France, which is, together with the Rock Master in Arco the most important of the year. Huge, like always, the crowd of spectators (six thousand people for the finals on Saturday), without doubt helped by the good weather of the alpine region of Briançon.
The '99 competition has been full of surprises. Starting with the names of the route setters, one of them François Lombard, local climber, considering  the unfortunate Legrand, who made a relatively stupid mistake for a champion of his level, and finishing with the name of the winner, definitely unexpected. In fact this year the winner has been the Italian Christian Brenna, very motivated to make a good performance, after an unlucky period, already too long for an athlet of his level. The Italian climbers continue to collect gold, after ten years of efforts and training. Let's hope that our champions have discovered the key to change something, of course in a positive way, for our colors. In the women's field Liv Sansoz was missing, injured again during a bouldering competition. Nevertheless the fight wasn't missing, and at the
end the win for Sarkany was harder than we could have thought at the beginning.
