The second Climbing Meeting, that was also the first Memorial Trophy “Boy” Bruno Vistalli, in Cornalba has been an exciting party. On the walls of Cornalba some of the most important pages of Italian and European sport climbing have been written. I speak about climbing on slabs and overhangs, but very technical, where only arms’ strength isn’t enough to reach the chain of the routes.
The meeting of Cornalba was born a year ago, an idea of Bruno Tassi, better known as “Camòs”, and worthy president of the group “Camosci, the climbers from Bergamo”. Camòs has been the one who has discovered and equipped 90% of the routes of the crag and the whole Val Brembana. Camòs, Simone Moro and the entire group Camosci wanted to organize a meeting open to all climbers, where the joyful and relaxed atmosphere was the true objective to reach, including also family members and fans of the climbers. Together with this goal they wanted to have a competitive moment, where teams of climbers could compare their performances, evaluated considering the difficulty and the style of the climbing (rotpunkt, with resting or toprope).
The meeting took place on the limestone of the Corna Bianca and its over two hundred routes. For the ranking of the meeting there were different categories: men’s teams, women’s teams and mixed teams.
This year the event was enriched by the “Boy” Trophy, a prize to the memory of the dear climbing friend recently deceased. The award was given to the climber who redpointed the hardest route of the day.
Considering the success of the event, it will be repeated also next year, hoping to have an even higher number of participants, this year there were forty of them, forming twenty climbing teams. The meeting was characterized by favorable weather (that is always positive), a lot of fun, many spectators and plenty of food and drinks.
To the athletes there offered a lot of rich prizes and cotillons, even more than in the official national competitions.
